When you visit our family as we gather on Sunday, you can expect to experience 4 main things that we devote ourselves to: the apostles’ teaching, fellowship, sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and prayer.
We believe that every time we gather as a family, we should experience ACTS 2:42-43:
“All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer. A deep sense of awe came over them all” (NLT)
The Apostles’ Teaching:
Our church family provides consistently biblical teaching. We use God’s word not to beat anyone up, but rather to build one another up and encourage each other so that we might be prepared for every good work of service in the family of God (Ephesians 4:12; 2 Timothy 3:17).
The apostles’ teaching (the teaching of the new testament church) was centered on Jesus’ death upon the cross for the sins of the world (He became sin) and His resurrection into new life (that we would become the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus), as we see in 2 Corinthians 5:21.
“All who believe in him are a new creation.” 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NLT)
Fellowship
As a church family, our purpose each week is to encourage one another in our journey with Christ, respond to each question about spiritual issues, and be a support you in times of hardship. We find that once relationships form and our love and care for one another grows, there is always someone to encourage you, rejoice with you, and speak the good news of Jesus into your life. Just as Proverbs 27:17 says, “Iron sharpens iron; so man sharpens his friend’s countenance.”
Sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper)
We believe that the family table and a common meal brings us together unlike any other activity.
The early church met daily in each others’ homes, providing people of different races, regions, and pasts with their own food, funds, prayers, and homes. They had to work through their differences, prejudices, and antipathies to engage in eating, conversation, and worship in the same space.
Each week at the end of our Bible teaching we purpose to spend time around the table sharing in a family meal together.
We also share in Holy Communion each week during our worship. This gives us an opportunity to turn to the Lord in remembrance of His love and grace that not only saves us, but sustains us.
Prayer
There is real meaning behind the common saying, “The family that prays together stays together”.
Prayer is the life, breath, and heart beat of a true Christian home. Each week we have made prayer our primary form of worship to the Lord. We believe worship is an opportunity for you to express, through prayer and song, your gratitude to God’s amazing grace in your life. We do this by lifting our voice in prayers and in singing songs together which express our hearts belief of what Christ has done for us by offering his love and redemption.
